"This prestigious award is given annually to a handful of Lions and Leo clubs for performing an outstanding service project in one of our global cause areas. Nominated at the club level, the Kindness Matters Service Award is a challenge for Lions and Leos to develop exceptionally innovative and creative service projects with the aim of leaving a positive impact in their communities." There are over 48,000 clubs worldwide and we, the Dorchester Lions Club were 1 of 29 clubs worldwide chosen to receive this award, the only club in Canada. We partnered with the Magic Yarn Project, Sue Beringer is the leader and the powerhouse behind the London Chapter. Sue along with the help of Lion Penny Wearne and an incredible team of over 50 community volunteers put their hearts in to creating magical yarn wigs for children battling cancer. Thank you to all the incredible volunteers who have changed the lives and brought smiles to the faces of tiny warriors battling a horrible disease. |
