Chairperson Keith Cook welcomed all who w ere attending the 2nd PDG’s Assoc iation Meeting.

The second M.D. “A” Past District Governors’ Association meeting was held on November 18th, 2006 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Markham with the following members in attendance - Keith Cook, Eric Buss, Len Coupland, Grace Kingsnorth, Art Woods, Derek Bloomfield, Dave Hansen, Dan Moore, John Thompson, Peter Bissonnette, Kathy Daoust, Fred Sheehy, Carl Young, Jack Oatway, Allister Cameron, Milton Tyler, Bob Osborne and Bill Bissonnette. If I have forgotten someone I apologize.

Members of the Past Governors’ Association could be recruiting other Past District Governors’ in their Districts who are not members of the Association. We would have a stronger Association. Lets put a little PUSH on for more recruits.

Get Well Cards:

PDG Keith Cook thanked PDG Grace for doing a great job with Get Well Cards. Way to go Lion Grace.

Past Association Luncheon:

All members of the PDG Association and spouses, District Governors and spouses, Vice District Governors and spouses were invited to attend the Association Luncheon on October 14th, 2006 at the Mount Albert Lions Community Centre. At the luncheon on October 14th, there were very few PDG’s and spouses attending. PDG Paul and Mary Brand put on a delicious lunch for 39 people. The Association had to absorb a loss of $32.66 on the luncheon. The Key Note speaker Lynn, Philip Hodgson, was very interesting speaking on Inside Camp X which was a secret Agent Training School during World War 11 located on the shores of Lake Ontario, near Whitby.

It was discussed that the PDG’s Association dinner be held in October of 2007. There are usually around 85 to 90 people attending the function. It

was also suggested that a small summary be given
on the Key Note speaker. This may entice more
people to attend if they see that there is going to be
a well known Key Note Speaker at the luncheon.

The Association Officers are looking for a Vice
Chair for 2007 to replace PDG Dave Hansen, and a
Secretary Treasurer to replace PDG Eric Buss.
Contact PDG Fred Sheehy if you are available to
take on one of these positions.

District A-15 will be looking for a Candidate to
replace PDG Dan Moore who is stepping down as
Director of A-15 Association.

The Association’s Constitution and By-Laws is
available on the PDGs’ Website for anyone who are
interested in reading them.

I received this excellent piece of advice from our OPP Association Secretary.

ATTORNEY’S ADVICE:

Read this and make a copy for your files in case you need to refer to it someday. A Corporate attorney sent the following out to the employees in his Company.

1: The next time you order cheques have only your initials (instead of First name)and last name put on them. If someone takes your cheque book, they will not know if you sign your cheque with just your Initials or your first name, but your bank will knowhow you sign your cheques.

2: Do not sign the back of your credit cards. Instead, put `PHOTO ID REQUIRED`.

3: When you are writing cheques to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the “For” line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card company knows the rest of the number and anyone who might be handling your cheque as it passes through all the cheque processing channels won`t have access to it.

4: Put your work phone number on your cheques instead of your home phone. If you have a PO Box use that instead of your home address. If you do not have a PO box, use your work address. Never have your SIN / printed on your cheques. (DUH!) You can add it if necessary. But if you have it printed anyone can get it.

5: Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine. Do both sides of eachlicense, credit card, etc. You will know what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place.

6: I also carry a photocopy of my passport when travelling either here or abroad. We`ve all heard horror stories about fraud that`s committed on us in stealing a Name, Address, SIN, Credit Cards.

Unfortunately, I, an Attorney, have firsthand knowledge because my wallet was stolenlast month. Within a week, the thieves ordered an expensive monthly cell phonepackage, applied for a VISA Credit Card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway Computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record informationonline, and more. But here`s some critical information to limit the damage in case thishappens to you or someone you know.

1: We have been told we should cancel our credit cards immediately. But the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call.Keep those where you can find them.

2: File a Police Report immediately in the jurisdiction where your credit cards, etc. were stolen. This proves to credit providers you were diligent, and this is a first steptoward an investigation (if there ever is one). But here`s what is perhaps most important of all: (I never even thought to do this.)

3: Call the two national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and social insurance number. I had never heard of doing this until advised by a Bank that called to tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my name. The alert means any company that checks your credit knows yourinformation was stolen, and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit. By the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done. There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves`purchases, none of which I knew about before placing the alert. Since then, no additional damage has been done.

This weekend (someone turned it in). It seems to have stopped them dead in their tracks.

Now, here are the numbers you always need to contact when your wallet etc. has beenstolen.

1: Equifax Canada: 1-877-249-2705

2: TransUnion: 1-877-525-3823

HUMOUR:

One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class. She came to the part of the story where Chicken Little tried to warn the farmer. She read …” and so Chicken Little went up to the farmer and said. “The sky is falling, the sky is falling”. The teacher then paused and asked the class “And what do you think that farmer said?”

One little girl raised her hand and said “I think he said “Holy Shit” A talkingchicken”

The teacher was unable to teach for the next ten minutes!

It was that time during the Sunday morning service for the children’s sermon. All the children were invited to come forward. One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and as she sat down, the pastor leaned over and said. “That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter Dress?”

The little girl replied, directly into the pastor’s clip on microphone, “Yes, and my Mom says it’s a bitch to iron.

Advice For The Day

If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it says on the aspirinbottle.

“Take two aspirin” …. And …. “Keep away from children.”
