Governors Council Highlights
February 14, 2004
The Governors of our ten Districts met in Etobicoke on the weekend of February 14th 2004. Council Chair Betty Jean Finlay called the meeting to order and the following actions were approved.
• The Ad Hoc Training Review committee presented its final report. An “Energizing Tymes” program will highlight the MDA convention this year at no cost to participating Lions.
• The Fundraising Application by the Lucan Lions Club was denied and referred to By-Law Vll, sect 1 & 2.
• Police Records Search Certificates: the words “or non-Lion” were added to the present policy.
• The Research & Long Range Planning was given permission to publish a club insurance update in Lions Magazine for general distribution.
• A new pin design “The Squirrel” was approved by Council for 2004-2005 and will sell for $4.50
• There was one action arising from the the Advisory Board Meeting of February 1: “That the Lions Foundation of Canada board establish a committee to initiate a third party review of all aspects of the Foundation activities. Such a review should include, but not be limited to By-Laws and policies, fundraising, marketing, administration, human relations, Dog Guide and client training, and the role of the Breslau and Quebec sites in the successful operation of the Foundation.”
• Members of council and incoming Governors for 2004-2005 elected Governor Dan Davis of District A-3 as the council chairperson for 2004-2005.
