It is with extreme sadness that the Blyth Lions Club advises of the passing of Lion Charlie Shaw on December 7th in his 92nd year. Lion Charlie joined the Blyth Lions Club in October, 1961 and had 56 years of perfect attendance. He was elected Club President for the 1966-67 Lions year and served District A9 as Zone Chairman in 1971-72 and Deputy District Governor in 1972-73. In 1974 District A9 Governor Bruce Murray appointed him as the District’s first Youth Exchange Chairman. He was later honoured by District A9 with the naming of the camp as the Lion Charlie Shaw International Youth Camp. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Helen Keller Fellow, a Life Member of Lions Foundation of Canada and a Life Member of Multiple District ‘A’. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Falconer Funeral Home, Blyth Chapel, located at 407 Queen Street, Blyth.
A Lions Service will be held on Sunday, December 10th at 6:45 p.m. Lions Members are asked to gather at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 420 located at 192 Dinsley Street no later than 6:30 pm. Coffee & snacks will be provided for the Lions Members at the Legion immediately following the Lions Service.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Anglican Church located at 166 Dinsley Street, Blyth.
