PID BRUCE MURRAY
Past International Director Bruce E. Murray passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the age of 84. Past Director Murray, a member of St. Marys Lions Club (A15), served a two-year term as a Director of the International Association of Lions Clubs after his election at the Association's 64th Convention held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, June 17-20, 1981.
A Lion since 1965, Past Director Murray has held numerous positions within the Association, including Club President, Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor and District Governor (1974-75). He was Vice Chairman of Multiple District ‘A’ Council of Governors and Promotional Chairman for his Multiple District.
Past Director Murray has received seven Extension Awards, the 100% District Governor Award, fourteen District Governor's Appreciation Awards, five International President's Awards and he is a Key Member. He is also a recipient of the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honour the Association gives to its members.
Past Director Murray founded Canada's first International Youth Exchange Camp and served for six years as its Director. He is a founder of the Lions Foundation of Canada and until recently served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Lions Quest Canada.
He is survived by his wife Janis and their family.
Past Director Murray is resting at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal Street, Mitchell, Ontario. Visitation for Lions Members only will be held on Sunday, April 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a public Funeral Service being held on Monday, April 10th at 11:00 a.m.
