Lions, it is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I report that PDG Bill Daoust of the Gravenhurst Lions Club (former member of the Gilford & District Lions Club) passed away this evening from his fight with cancer. He is survived by his closest friend, PDG Kathy.

I have spoken to PDG Kath, and she is planning on a Lions Service, mass and celebration of life. Details will follow as soon as they become available.

PDG Bill served as District Governor of District A-12 in 1994-95. His accomplishments in Lionism are far too many to list, but his passion for serving the blind and visually impaired were close to his heart. Most recently, he continued his service to the blind, by serving our association with distinction as Zone Coordinator for Campaign SightFirst II.

Please keep Lion Kathy in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

The arrangements are finalized for PDG Bill's Celebration of Life.

On Saturday, October 4, 2008 there will be funeral mass said at 1:00 PM at
St Paul's R.C. Church, 235 John Street, Gravenhurst, ON. immediately
followed by a Lions' Memorial Service in the Church.

There will also be a reception in the Church Hall (in the same building)
right after the Lion's Service. A private internment will take place at a
later date.

Donations can be made to the Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria
Hospital in Barrie or a charity of choice.
