(The text hereinafter appeared in the June 1967 issue of Lionage, the official magazine of Multiple District "A"quot;A"A"quot;)

"One of the most exciting events at a District Convention took place at Sault Ste. Marie when at the Tuesday morning session, the Lake Joseph Holiday Fund went over the top. The suspense that was built up as Club after Club came forward to make further contributions reached a climax when Past International President Lion Harry Newman, with only $1036.00 to go to complete a $350,000 commitment, stood up and announced that he would make up the deficit. The thunderous applause that followed the completion of the project was not only for Harry'í most generous gesture but also for the Lions of Ontario who worked so hard for six years to make the Lake Joseph Project a success."

1967 was the year of the International Exhibition in Montreal , the first such event to be held in Canada . Many Lions Clubs had made or were making plans to bring underprivileged children and others as well as Senior Citizens to visit the Expo site. There was a day when International President Jorge Bird would meet the Lions at Expo í67, or in other words a "Lions Day."
