First District "A" Convention
February 23, 1921 Toronto Ontario

 

Lion Louis Livingstone of Windsor , Ontario , elected Governor for 1921-1922 (Lion Livingstone resigned before the end of the terms and was replaced by Ernest E. Linger of Hamilton to serve the rest of the term.)

 

Second District "A" Convention
May 27, 1922 Hamilton Ontario

 

Ernest E. Linger, who had served the balance of the previous term as Governor after Lion Livingstone resigned, was elected Governor for 1922-1923.

 

Third District "A" Convention
May 28-29, 1923 Windsor , Ontario

 

The guest of honour was International President Ed S. Vaught of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , USA .

 

Lion Lt. Col. C.M.R. Graham, a former Mayor of London, Ontario, was elected Governor for 1923-1924.

 

At the close of the 1922-1923 term there were 14 clubs and 753 members.

 

Fourth District "A" Convention

May 26-27, 1924 St. Catherines , Ontario

 

Lion Fred Avery of St. Catherines was elected Governor for the term 1924-1925.

 

Lion Harry A. Newman from District "A" was elected International President for 1924-1925. The delegates at the Convention decided to hold the following Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, the site of the International Convention in order to Honour Lion Newman at the end of his term of office as International President.

 

Fifth District "A" Convention

June 23-24, 1925 Cedar Point , Ohio , USA

 

The delegates at the Convention decided to divide District "A" into two parts, namely "A" and "B". The clubs located east of a line running from north to south west of the City of Hamilton, Ontario, formed part "B".

Lion Jack Arnott of Ottawa was elected Governor of part "A"quot;A"A"quot;.

Lion Dr. H. Irvine Wiley of Windsor was elected Governor of part "B".

 

Note: Helen Keller was the special guest at this International Convention.

 

Sixth District "A" Convention
June 7, 1926 Ottawa , Ontario

 

The two parts of District "A" (A and B) held a joint Convention.

 

It was decided to reunite the two parts of District "A" and this decision was very amicably approved.

 

Lion Alex Morrison of London , Ontario , was elected Governor for 1926-1927.

 

Seventh District "A" Convention
May 23, 1927 Niagara Falls, Ontario

 

The Guest Speaker was International President Lion William A. Westfall of Mason City , Iowa , USA .

 

Lion William D. Glintz of Niagara Falls was elected Governor for 1927-1928.

 

Note: 1926-1927 there was 27 clubs and 1106 members in District "A"quot;A"A"quot;.

 

Eighth District "A" Convention
June 11-14, 1928 Quebec

 

Was held aboard the "Pirate" ship, which sailed from Montreal down the St. Lawrence and up the Saguenay River to Bagotville , Quebec , to return to Montreal on the 4th day.

 

Lion Jack Connell of Toronto elected Governor for 1928-1929.

 

Important Decisions taken at this Convention:

 

ÿ      that a per capita assessment be levied in order to subsidize future conventions

ÿ      to supply for another three years the Braille Juvenile magazine to all blind children

ÿ      a unanimous pledge of confidence and fidelity to Lions International

 

Ninth District "A" Convention

June 3-5, 1929 London , Ontario

 

The Guest Speaker was International President Lion Ben A. Ruffin of Richmond , Virginia .

 

Lion Joseph Sheedy of North Bay , Ontario , was elected Governor for 1929-1930.

 

Note: There were 26 clubs and 1165 members in 1928-1929.
